Well, not really. But upon listening to this record one can’t help but suspect that King Bucknor Jnr. and his Disko Beat Organisation were trying their hardest to do their finest impersonation.

Since the day i found this recording, I’ve had a difficult time time finding out anything about it.   Recorded in 1978, the LP is pure Fela-esque from beginning to end.  Bucknor even does his best to channel the essence of a Fela rant before dropping into the main groove.  The instrumentation is on point and could easily be part of Mr. Kuti’s catalog.  Funny how it never dawned on me that Fela’s success would warrant a proper imitation within his own country.  Missing, however, is the introspective sharpness of Fela’s political commentary (although, the b-side “Mr. Debter” does attempt to touch on similar points).  

Now the real question for me is whether this is Segun Bucknor, who has since been given his proper due as a formidable Nigerian funkester?  The lack of info on this recording, and on King Bucknor himself, would lead me to suspect otherwise. Anyone with some info please let me know.
